Mustansar Hussain Tarar is one of Pakistan’s most readable writers, travel enthusiasts, mountaineers, writers, novelists, columnists, TV hosts, and actors. He has written more than 50 books so far. He is usually famous for his travelogues and novels. In addition, he was associated with dramatization, playwriting, and acting.
Mustansar Hussain Tarar was born on March 1, 1939, in Lahore. His childhood was spent at the Lakshmi Mansion on Baden Road, where Saadat Hassan Minto lived in his neighborhood. He obtained his early education from Mission High School, Rang Mahal, and Muslim Model High School. After matriculation, he enrolled in Government College Lahore.
After passing F.A Examination he moved to the UK and other European countries, where he had the opportunity to understand, examine, and bear film, theater, and literature from a new perspective. He spent five years there and returned home after studying textile engineering.
In 1969 he embarked on a tour of European countries. On his return, he wrote his first travelogue, “Nikle Teri Talash Mein.” It was published in 1971 and was widely appreciated by both readers and critics. The next itinerary was “Undlas Mein Ajnabi.” In 42 years, his 30 travelogues were published, of which 12 are about the northern parts of Pakistan. His travelogue on Pakistan’s highest peak, “K-2,” became so popular that the first edition ended in two weeks. Due to his deep connection to the northern area, one of the lakes was named “Tara Lake.” Here are a few of his most notable travelogues names:
