Sher Shah Suri was an ethnic Pashtun commander and the founder of the Sur Empire in North India. His real name was Farid Khan belong to the famous Sur tribe of Afghanistan. Sher Shah Suri took control of the Mughal empire in 1540. After his accidental death in 1545, his son Islam Shah became his successor.
