Rahim Gul is a Famous Urdu writer, critic, film director and film producer of Pakistan. He wrote various books of fiction, criticism, biography and art. Rahim Gul was a major figure in contemporary Urdu literature. He is well known for his last and most widely read novel, “Jannat Ki Talash”.
Rahim Gul was born in Shakardara, a village in Kohat, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan. He obtained his early education from Kohat and joined the British Army in 1941. He remained engaged in Burma fronts during the Second World War. Soon after the end of the war, he left the army, settled in Lahore, Pakistan and started writing for various magazines and papers.
Rahim Gul is the author of many books and has been honoured with the Adamjee Literary Award for his book ” Dastan Chor Aaye”. He has written, directed and produced various Urdu and Pashto films. Before he died in 1985, he wrote columns in Daily Jang, an Urdu language newspaper, for many years.
