He was also imprisoned on the Island of Lepers, but he escaped there, too, eventually ending up in the Dutch-controlled islands of Curacao. There, too, he faced imprisonment. Finally, he took refuge in Venezuela and started a new life in the capital, “Caracas”.
One day in a bookshop, his eyes fell upon the astonishing book of “Albertine Saracen”. On the cover of which it was written that 123 thousand volumes of this book have been sold. If this woman has been hiding from shelter to shelter with broken bones, and her story has sold in the millions, I’ve taken on more than that, though Papillon. He bought two copies of School Children and started writing his own poetry. Then he purchased eleven more bottles, and within a few months, they were full. He wrote this story in French, and later, its translations appeared worldwide. A film was also made based on this book, on which the people of the West showered praise and admiration.
This extraordinary story of escape and adventure was published in Urdu Digest in May 1975. It gained popularity among readers that no adventure story in Urdu had enjoyed before. This story, packed with surprises at every step and breathtaking at every turn, ended in October, so readers rightly felt it should have continued.
