Haft Asman Poetry book authored by Samina Raja. Haft Asman is a collection of Urdu Poetry, social romantic Ghazals, and poems of Ms. Samina Raja. Samina Raja was a renowned Urdu poetess, writer, editor, translator, educationist, and broadcaster of Pakistan. In her poetry, she highlights the feminine and human emotions of love and desires, memories, social and psychological issues of the new age, and mythical and metaphysical topics.

Samina Raja was an expert in weaving modern themes in the classical expression of Urdu poetry. There was a special quality and natural freshness in her poetry. She wrote extensively but maintained her enthusiasm and style. Samina Raja was an intellectually strong woman and her poetry is a fusion of modern and classical traditions.

Samina was born on September 11, 1961 in Rahim Yar Khan. She obtained a Master’s degree in Urdu Literature from Punjab University Lahore. She started writing poetry in 1973, and 15 of her poetry books were published continuously. She also wrote a few books in Urdu prose, besides editing and translating some rare books of prose from English to Urdu.

She has been hosting All Pakistan Mushaira on Pakistan Television since 1995 and also presented the literary program “Urdu Adab Mein Aurat Ka Kiradar” (The Role of Women in Urdu Literature) on PTV. Samina joined the National Book Foundation in 1998 as a consultant and worked as an editor of the monthly “Kitab” from 1998 to 2005. From 2008 until his death, he also edited the monthly literary magazines Mustaqbil, Aasar, and Khwabgar.

Samina worked as a subject specialist at the National Language Authority Islamabad and planned to launch a special edition of the literary magazine Khawab Gar in honor of the legendary poet Ahmed Faraz. Samina Raja was also awarded the Prime Minister’s Award and the Writer’s Award. However, she refused to accept the award, citing the nomination of undeserving persons with her. Samina had a very sensitive personality, many times she refused to attend such literary events where the special guests were those who had nothing to do with literature.

Samina Raja introduced many unique techniques and ideas in Urdu literature. One of her desires was to translate the Holy Quran into Urdu and then to convert this Urdu translation into poetry which no one in the world has ever done. She started her project without knowing that it would be the last project of her life. Before she became ill, she started with Surah Al-Baqarah and continued, she wanted to complete and publish it but death did not give her respite, and she died of cancer on October 31, 2012, in Islamabad. His death is a great loss to Urdu literature.
