Maut Ki Kitab Novel by Khalid Javed PDF Free Download
Maut Ki Kitab Novel by Khalid Javed. “Maut Ki Kitab” is hailed as a unique novel for its narrative style of subject matter and its poetic prose in Urdu literary circles. Shamsur Rehman Farooqui, a prominent Urdu critic, observes that Khalid Javed has almost carved a new language to portray the experiences of the novel’s unnamed protagonist.
The Urdu version of the novel begins with a letter to the media by Walter Schiller, an archaeologist, who describes his experiences surveying a city destroyed by a central government hydroelectric dam project some 200 years ago. As a result of this artificial flood, all the inhabitants of the city shifted to another place. Now that the river has dried up, the city of Gargitia Talmas has re-emerged.
Schiller found a book in surprisingly good condition, with a black cover without the author’s name beneath the rubble. We are told that the language of the book is unfortunately extinct, and there are hardly any speakers left. With the help of his friend Jean Hugo, an ancient linguist, Schiller succeeds in deciphering the text. What we read as the Book of Death is a machine translation of the book found in the rubble.
