Tareekh-e-Tabri Complete 7 Volumes, Written by Allama Abu Jafar Muhammad bin Jareer Al-Tabri. It is the first authentic and important history of Islam without the history of Islam would not be complete. Its author is Imam Abu Ja’far Ibn Jarir Tabari who died in 310 AH. This history has the status of Umm Al-Kitab, which is why scholars have considered this book as the source.

All later Islamic histories contain references to Tabari. All the famous historical books such as Tareekh Ibn Khaldun, Tareekh Ibn Kathir, Tarikh Abul Fida ‘etc are derived from it. The author has collected all the information from different traditions of eyewitnesses. This original book was in Arabic, but after realizing its usefulness, it was translated into Urdu and published in seven volumes. The details are as follows:

The first volume includes information on the universe’s creation up until the birth of the Holy Prophet (PBUH). This chapter contains the specifics of the numerous prophets together with their nations and kings, starting from the creation of the world and sky and ending with the birth of Hazrat Muhammad.

Volume II describes the situation from the Holy Prophet to the second Caliph Hazrat Umar Bin Khitab. In this volume, all the details of the blessed life of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) have been narrated through a complete chain of evidence up to the authentic and original narrators. This is the rare history that has been the reliable and authoritative source of Sira Mubarak from ancient times to modern times. All historians of Islamic history have benefited from it.

Volume III narrates the events from the Caliphate of Hazrat Umar e Farooq to the fourth Caliph, Hazrat Ali. Volume IV deals with the situation from Hazrat Amir Muawiyah to Sulaiman bin Abdul Malik. The events of Hazrat Umar bin Abdul Aziz to Khalifa Hadi are narrated in Volume V.

Similarly; Volume VI contains the complete history of the Abbasid Caliphate from the time of Caliph Haroon Al-Rasheed to the time of Caliphate Wasiq. The last part, Volume 7, contains the period of decline of the Baghdad Caliphate, in which a detailed and complete history of the period of the Abbasid Caliphate from the Caliph Jafar Al-Mutawakil to the Caliph Muhammad Al-Muhtadi is recorded.
