Al-Hizbul Azam (الحزب الاعظم) Arabic Urdu by Mulla Ali Al-Qari. “Al-Hazb Al-Azaam W al-ward Al-Fakhm” is a beautifully organized and comprehensive collection of Masnoon Duas derived from the Quran and the Sunnah of the Holy Prophet (PBUH). It includes the most popular and favourite prayers and supplications, divided into simple 15- to 30-minute daily sessions. It is a book of immense benefit, and every Muslim will benefit significantly from reading and studying it. I have also started reading it.
Mullah Ali ibn Sultan Muhammad al-Qari, popularly known as Mullah Ali al-Qari, was a great hadith scholar, jurist, theologian, commentator, calligrapher, Hajj and Umrah expert, astronomer, logician and writer. He is famous for his commentary on “Minah al-Rawd al-Azhar fi sharh al-Fiqh al-Akbar”.
Mulla al-Qari was born in Herat, Afghanistan, and received his early Islamic education. He then moved to Makkah, where he studied under a number of scholars, including Shaikh Ahmad bin Hajar al-Haytami al-Makki and Qutb al-Din al-Hanafi. He was called al-Qari “the reciter” due to his specialisation in the science of reciting the Quran.
Mulla al-Qari lived in Mecca, where he taught until he died in 1014 Hijri. His famous works include a two-volume commentary on Qadi ‘Iyad ke al-Shifa’ and a two-volume Tafsir “Ain-ul-Ilm wa Zain ul-Halam” on the reduction of Ihya-i-Ilam-ud-Din (Revival of Religious Studies) of Imam al-Ghazali.
