Maulana Fazlur Rehman is a right-wing Pakistani Deobandi politician and current president of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI). He is the acting president of the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM), a coalition of establishment political parties formed to resist the ruling Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf administration of Imran Khan. He was a member of the National Assembly between 1988 and May 2018 and served as Leader of the Opposition from 2004 to 2007. Maulana was a part of MRD, which was formed against Zia-ul-Haq's dictatorship. One should not write a book about a living person because there is no guarantee that a person will not change (neither the author nor his compliment). However, there are some reasons that you will realize after reading this book. I think it is very important to get acquainted with the mood and beliefs of the author before reading a book. Therefore, the author's understanding of religion is based on the companionship of some Ulama or personal study. He does not insist on the correctness of his understanding of religion. The author is a serious student of history and politics. Based on this study, he feels Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam has a decisive and positive role in the political history of Pakistan. He has a permanent connection with the personality and politics of Maulana Fazlur Rehman for 35 years but has no personal or party affiliation with Maulana. Therefore, he is not familiar with Maulana's domestic political policy. The analysis under review is an unbiased analysis of the average Pakistani based on no deliberate misrepresentation. Saleem Javed's practical religious activities are limited to preaching work only. Still, he is a supporter of secular ideas and he considers secularism as an integral part of religion and has tried to explain his position with argument. However, he does not insist on the validity of his argument. The author strongly supports Deoband's political strategy and considers it to be in accordance with democratic and secular principles. He has seen Jamiat Ulema in the mirror of secularism. For the same reason, they have clashed with the imperialism of all times. The media, under the influence of the upper classes, not only does not allow the services of Deobandi scholars to come to the fore but continues to play a leading role in their assassination. The current Ameer of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam, Fazlur Rehman, has been specifically targeted for targeting the same character assassination of Deobandi Ulema. Maulana's character assassination is the character assassination of Jamiat Ulema, and Maulana's defence is the defence of Jamiat Ulema. The author believes that Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam is not the personal political party of Maulana Fazlur Rehman but the centenary political legacy of the Deobandi Ulema to which the honour of the Deobandi Ulema is attached. In addition, the author believes that for a country like Pakistan, the policy of secularism, i.e., "live and let live," is the best. Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam is a political party that wants to make its case in front of the parliament with arguments and does not want to make it by force. So one mindset belongs to Maulana Fazlur Rehman and the other to Mullah Fazlullah. One of the reasons for writing this book is to make people realize that by degrading Maulana Fazlur Rehman and putting him against the wall, the indirect meaning is to hold Pakistan hostage to an extremist mentality. In this book, along with Maulana Fazlur Rehman, you will also find about Imran Khan because the rain of accusations against Maulana comes from Pakistan Tehreek Insaf. Imran Khan often says to himself that if I am wrong, then the government of Nawaz Sharif has a duty to arrest me. The only thing they can say is that now it is your government. If you think Maulana is wrong, arrest him. But aside from Imran, and Nawaz wrestling, the arguments have been discussed. The author is a secular writer who has occasionally written about Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam and Maulana Fazlur Rehman, among other topics.
