Khanabadosh Safarnama, written by Mustansar Hussain Tarar. This Safarnama is focused on something other than a particular country or place, like other Safarnamas in Urdu. This book includes interesting travelogues of 9 countries, including Afghanistan, Iran, Turkey, Syria, Lebanon, Cyprus, Egypt, Italy, and Switzerland.

This travelogue begins in Afghanistan, where Tarar spent several days visiting various places and observing the local people and their culture. From Afghanistan, he moves to Tehran, Iran, where he meets an old friend and reminisces about his past.

After Iran, Tarar travelled to Turkey, where he visited various regions such as Erzurum, Gaziantep, and Klas. After that, he went to the Syrian city of Damascus. Where he visits the shrines of many prominent Islamic personalities and Companions. These include the Umayyad Mosque, the shrine of Hazrat Khalid bin Waleed in Homs, and the shrine of Hazrat Ruqayyah bint Imam Hussain in Jami al-Tawbah, Damascus. The author also introduces us to the sanctity of these places as he talks to local people.

The journey then takes us to Beirut, Lebanon, where Tarar Sahib risks his life several times during his five-day stay due to the ongoing civil war. He travelled to Italy via Cyprus and Alexandria, Egypt. In Italy, he takes the reader on a tour of Rome, Florence, Venice, and other tourist places, visiting the resting places of Michelangelo and Dante and exploring the Tuscan hills and the Arno River.

The travelogue ends in Switzerland, where he meets the gipsy tribes. The author’s writing style during the travelogue is different from other travelogues. He does not use humour, sarcasm and exaggerated statements to engage the reader. The reader may feel they are traversing the sand dunes of Afghanistan, experiencing civil war in Beirut, or cruising along the Mediterranean Sea.

In addition to the various places, the author introduces the reader to people of different nationalities. These include Sukhdeep and Ali Reza in Tehran, Palestinian youth Ahmad in Beirut, Pierluigi in Rome, Gypsy in Switzerland, and Garth, Sam, and George during the sea voyage. This adds depth and diversity to the travelogue, making it more relatable to readers from different backgrounds.
