Khan Asif is a remarkable historian and unique writer of Pakistan. This unique writer was born on February 23, 1940, in Rampur, UP, India, He passed away in December 2003 in Karachi. His father Feroz Shah Khan was a feudal lord and held a prominent position among the nobles of Rampur. Despite the feudal environment, he was a very pious man, with a special attachment to religion and Sufism. Perhaps this was the reason that Khan Asif became religious from the time of his early education and training. This color did not fly even when the film hobby of his young age took him to the Mumbai film industry.

Very few people will know about Khan Sahib’s film interests and engagements in the Indian and Pakistan film industries. Many readers only know that he was a mystic of history and he wrote very high-level historical stories. He had a special fondness for Sufis, so he paid particular attention to writing biographies of Sufis. In fact, Khan Asif is the name of an all-around personality.

He was not only a unique poet and writer of his kind but also had practical experience in other fields of fine arts. Khan Sahib received his training in scriptwriting in the studio of renowned director and filmmaker BR Chopra under the supervision of famous poet Mr. Akhtar Al-Iman. That is why he always took him with the utmost respect. It should also be made clear here that Khan was a very fearless person in expressing his impartial opinion.

Khan Sahib came to Pakistan for the second time, probably in 1968, and then he stayed here permanently. He started journalism and joined the daily ” Hurriyat ” and kept writing articles for the Film page of daily “Hurriyat”. He also contacted the film world and worked with Mr. Fazal Ahmed Karim Fazli while completing the film “Aisa Bhi Hota hai”. Khan Asif also wrote songs for the movie “Dil Wale” made by Ibrahim Nafees. The grief of work eventually led him to the daily “Jasrat.”

In the daily “Jasrat,” he started writing one Segment on current affairs every day and a long poem weekly. Later, when the government of the time banned the publication of Jasrat, Khan launched a fiction magazine called Dastan Digest. This monthly continued till 1982 and then closed. In 1983, Khan became involved with the monthly Jasoosi Digest and began writing historical articles about Sufis and Imams. Khan Asif wrote many excellent historical novels as well as notable books on famous saints and mystics.
