Umairah Ahmed set an example of two women in her story. Momina, who chooses to consider herself inferior, and sees beautiful people as immortal human beings who cannot be touched. She forgets herself and goes on to please her husband. On the other side her daughter Sumbal, who is the exact opposite, when it comes to her rights, she stands up for him and wants to live with dignity. Both women are described as being black persons.
The problem of today’s Muslims is that they only consider rape, alcohol or killing someone as a sin, while backbiting, lying, unfair discrimination, etc. are not considered sins even though they are equally great sins. People fail to understand this and often ignore it. The author proved his point through a powerful comparison. The novel was first published in monthly Khawateen Digest and later on in book form.
Umaira Ahmed is one of the most widely read and well-known Urdu fiction novelist and screenplay writers of Pakistan. She completed her Masters in English Literature from Murray College, Sialkot. She later became an English language lecturer for A and A level at Army Public College, Sialkot. However, she quit her job after few years to focus on writing. She started her writing career in 1998 at a very young age. Her early stories were published in the monthly Urdu Digests and later in the form of books. She has written several books, including full novels and short stories. However, it was his novel “Peer e Kamil” that became his identity.
